Pumping Some Adrenalin Rush in Adventurous Chicago

The laidback atmosphere is a deception. While many find Chicago to be mellow ochre, for others it can also be pumping red, a unique mix of sun, sea and air that makes it a true adventurer's destination.

Those with a taste for adventure will be glad to know there are so many affordable flights coming to and from the Windy City, which are easily accessible no matter which area one is from. Several websites now give the option of reserving as early as a year or several months before travel along with complimentary car rental services for adventurer's who like discovering the city's milieu on their own. If planning an adventure vacation, one will be surprised to know Chicago is a city holding premiere destinations and experiences for the thrill seeker.

Chicago is a city best seen by foot. Because the whole area is one great architectural landmark after another, Chicago is a great city for backpackers or simply walkers. Chicago is the birthplace of the modern skyscraper, so it's no wonder that these structures are growing like trees in the Uptown and Downtown areas. The Loop, a nickname for the heart of Downtown, is one of the greatest must-sees in Chicago. Not only does it give an inkling of preference in architecture but also, it gives a peek on how regular Chicagoans live daily.

Tour through the streets, whether by bus or foot, and find the works of Marc Chagall at the First National Plaza, Alexander Calder's famous red flamingo in an outdoor café on Dearborn Street and Picasso's work down at Daley Plaza. For those who like to span a greater area at a shorter amount of time, biking is also an option. The Lakefront Path, a 20 mile walking and biking area which connects to the Navy Pier is a great area to do all these three.

For those who don't like to the constant walking, another great option is to try boating. Sea kayaking is a popular sport in Chicago and several clubs and organizations set up just for the sport can prove that. The Northwest Passage is a company set up to teach beginners and professionals the wonders of the sport, and they're found in Chicago! The company can take one through a leisurely ride down Lake Michigan and back or even take one through an overnight trail through different sea passages in Chicago.

If this isn't adventurous enough for the taste, Chicago also goes off the beaten path, by offering sports and game other cities don't normally have. If you're tired of the usual view via land, take a helicopter ride. There are several tours offering these, giving one the option of seeing spots like the O'Hare Airport, Bronzeville, Lake Michigan and the Loop on air.

Hot air ballooning is also a great way to see the city. It offers the same view a helicopter would but is meant for people who like to take in the scenes at a slower pace. A hot air balloon through Chicagoland will also give one the option having wine and hors d'ouvres with the view of Chicago passing by. A hot air balloon won't only take you through the usual views like Chicago's Sears Tower but beyond that should the customer want to.

Still itching for a little more adrenalin rush? Then try the ultimate ride by touring the area and skydiving with the Chicagoland Skydiving Center found just a little bit outside of Chicago's perimeters in Hinckley, Illinois. The skydiving experience is the most unique way to see Chicago on air. And there's no need to bring those walking shoes just to watch all of Chicago's best kept secrets.

There are still so many things to do in one's Chicago Adventure vacation which doesn't only go off the beaten path but even tread on areas where there's no path at all. When you have a taste of adventure, don't wipe off Chicago off your list just yet. Immerse in the place a bit, and you'll find that the city has a lot more spunk than it lets on!
